What is absolute threshold?

In neuroscience and psychophysics, an absolute threshold was originally defined as the lowest level of a stimulus – light, sound, touch, etc. – that an organism could detect (Wiki).

Most of our senses have minimum thresholds in which we can perceive input (e.g. vision, sound, door). This is usually a function of how many sensor neutrons we have and there is some variation between different people. These thresholds were part of our evolutionary past in that the sensory threshold levels we currently have were useful and kept us alive (for the most part).

Purpose: The primary goal of this weekly assignment is to enable you to understand the revision process and revise your paper with the help of a writing specialist.

Prepare:

Step 1: Prepare a shortened version of your Final Paper (at least four pages) by including the following: Introduction paragraph and      thesis statement you developed for your Week 3 Assignment. Step 2: After you have completed a rough draft of your paper, submit that draft to the Ashford Writing Center by using the instructions found in the Paper Review (http://writingcenter.ashford.edu/paper-review) Links to an external site. page. Your paper will be returned within 24 hours, so give yourself enough time to complete and submit it prior to the due date.

Reflect: Carefully review the revision letter and the margin comments that you see on your returned paper. Consider each of the suggestions provided to help you to revise your paper.

Write:

What You Need to Submit to Waypoint: Submit a copy of the feedback      within your rough draft that you received from the writing specialist. Submit the journal assignment      answering the following questions in at least 400 words:  Identify the       top three issues your writing specialist focused on in your rough draft       (e.g., paragraph structure, proper use of quotations, thesis statement,       etc.).  In what        ways were those issues surprising? Describe       what you learned from some of the feedback your writing specialist       provided as explanations.  Was this        feedback helpful? Evaluate the       usefulness of the paper review tool.  In what        ways did this activity improve your academic writing skills? Will you        use the Ashford Writing Center to review your work in the future? Why or        why not?

The journal part of the assignment does not need to be formatted in APA style; however correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation is required.

In your paper, discuss the diagnostic characteristics of the personality disorder, the etiology of the disorder (the causes of the disorder, when it first manifests, etc.), and how the characteristics of the disorder have been linked to future criminal behavior. Discuss early warning signs, assessment methods, and treatments that can be used to manage the disorder. Is it possible to treat the disorder before criminal tendencies develop?

The paper must be two to three pages in length and formatted according to APA style. In addition to the textbook, you must use two to three scholarly resources from the Ashford University Library to support your claims. Cite your sources within the text of your paper and on the reference page.

 All states do not have the same expectations for reporting child abuse or neglect with regard to exposure to family violence.  As you write your initial response, consider how your state views the  impact of family violence on the welfare of the children .  Make sure that you are accessing reliable data sources for your state.  For example, Wikipedia is not an acceptable source for this course.
