contributed toward your understanding of your future career.
This course as a part of my learning experience. I chose this specific topic,
‘Introduction to psychology: biological psychology’ as it is quite new for me and
I would like to learn more about it. I found this topic interesting and it helped me to
gather all the ideas and learning at the end of this course.
I have gained some comprehensive knowledge in different aspects of biological
psychology such as nervous system as an information processor ,reflect and connect,
genes and genetic disorders, genetic variation and gene environment and genetics in
psychology.
Employers often seek different range of skills in the applicant. After completion of this
learning experience I have managed to enhance my knowledge and skills to an extent
on these following topics:
➢ Cognitive -e.g., creativity and information management
➢ Communication -e.g., active listening and public speaking
➢ Personal-e.g., conscientiousness and integrity
➢ Social -e.g., collaboration and leadership abilities
➢ Technological e.g., flexibility and familiarity with hardware and software
Although psychology is not often connected to having a direct connection there are
many potential opportunities in the field of accounting and business and market
research. The field of business, accounting and marketing often utilizes psychological
methods to interpret and anticipate the needs and reactions of consumers, customers
and community and not for profit sectors.

The second learning experience I completed as a requirement was’ Jindal
Centre for Social Innovation + Entrepreneurship ‘.This course was conducted by
the Jindal Centre for Social Innovation + Entrepreneurship(JSiE) at Jindal Global
University social Impact centre. The main objective of the organization is to develop
the initiative of social innovation in Northern India and to connect to the global network
working to enable higher educations to overcome the challenges.
The learning experience helped me in achieving and understanding the approach that
helped to create financial return and measurable positive social or environmental
impact. Similarly, this also helped in learning and gaining the perspective of the current
structure of impact investing and my role in these emerging sectors. This learning
module also helped to gain a in depth understanding of the subject by analysing the
range of investing and funding ideas used by the impact investors and entrepreneur.
Furthermore, this course also included the following topics and I believe to have
achieved the following :
➢ Financial analysis and technique used to fund the social enterprises
➢ Impact measurement components and tools
➢ Current market trends
➢ Current challenges in impact investing and
➢ Relevant skills required to get a job in the impact investment industry
➢ Explore the relationship between risk return and impact

Learning Experience 3
I chose is ‘The Digital Economy: Success through Market Segmentation’. The
course is developed by The Open University ,the largest academic institution in the
UK and aims in providing flexible distance learning.
The course intends to make learners know about the digital era in affecting market
segmentation strategies. One of the advantages of this course it that this does not
require any previous knowledge and experience in marketing.
The primary objective of this learning module is to explore the reasons of why and how
market segmentation is used to improve customer satisfaction and business
performance. This learning module has helped me in covering a few important topics
such as
➢ Influence of digital economy in the function of marketing
➢ Introduction to market segmentation and why it has a significance
➢ Relation between business strategy and marketing
➢ Process of segmentation, targeting and positioning
➢ Ethical issues in market segmentation
➢ High volume of information and data in digital age
Moreover, during and after completion of the course I have been able to understand
and relate the impact of digital economy on market segmentation by the organisation.
This course also contributed in summarising and linking segmentation strategy and
recognising the impact of the digital economy. Likewise, the course helped in
producing and using market segmentation to improve organisation’s performance in
the digital world.

Why is it significant that an organization allow for failure? What are some significant ways an organization can allow for failure and still find success?

My response:
Penicillin, pacemakers, Viagra, and potato chips have one thing in common; all resulted from failed attempts of something different. Thomas Edison stated that he had not failed 10,000 times, but he had learned 10,000 ways of not making a bulb. Managers should, therefore, support employees to make mistakes. Mistakes are where innovation gets fostered, and employees learn and gain experience. Mistakes should not be confused as a lack of performance, but rather as a way of learning (“Success or failure in failure?” 2009).
Research shows that mistakes allow the brain to expand through the experience gained. The brain compiles a lot of information about the experience when mistakes get made, and it gets bigger with the learning setup. Eventually, therefore, one gets smarter because of failure. Also, the cosst of failure is equal to the cost of learning. For employers to prevent mistakes, they would have to spend a lot of money teaching employees how to avoid those mistakes. If an employer makes a mistake and loses $1000, how much would the company have spent to avoid that mistake? No doubt they would have spent more, but the experience gained through learning cannot get compared to the experience gained through personal mistakes.
Several ways exist in which an organization can allow for failure and still find success. An organization can promote failure and success at the same time if they avoid assigning critical tasks as experiential learning. It is good for one to test the waters with small tasks that can have little impact on an organization in case of failure. Also, when organizations allow failure, they should have a proper follow-up. A proper follow up of both failure and success will allow for learning from mistakes and documentation of the best practice for success. Lastly, organizations should promote the creation of simulations. Creating a simulation allows for failure on a small scale which allows for suggestions and adjustments, which eventually promote success (Casuto, 2016).
