Assignment 2: Constitutional Rights
Due Week 10 and worth 200 points

The constitutional rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights are most highly protected during the trial stage of a criminal proceeding. This is when the adversarial process, which characterizes the U.S. criminal justice process, is at its peak. Analyze and evaluate the steps which would bring an individual to trial beginning with the arrest phase of the process.

Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:

  1. Identify and discuss the four (4) elements of arrest.
  2. Identify and discuss the four (4) requirements for search and seizure with a warrant.
  3. Explain the various aspects of the plain view doctrine.
  4. Compare and contrast the various means of identifying suspects.
  5. Summarize the basic constitutional rights of the accused during trial.
  6. Use at least four (4) quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

Students will create a PowerPoint® presentation to display the advantages and disadvantages of three online collaboration tools, recommend one, and explain why.

Research three online collaboration tools (e.g., Skype, Google Hangouts, FaceTime, ZOOM, Go To Meeting, WebEx) and recommend one.

Evaluate and include the following parameters for each online collaboration tool:

  • Ease of Use
  • Reliability and Availability
  • Cost
  • Time and Resources to Implement
  • Advantages and Disadvantages

Create a 10- to 15-slide PowerPoint® presentation of three online collaboration tools (e.g., Skype, Google Hangouts, FaceTime, ZOOM, Go To Meeting, WebEx) and support your recommended choice by explaining reasons for your choice based on parameters above.Use in-text citations in the speaker notes in each slides. Each slide needs to have speaker notes, beside the title and reference slides.

Include the following PowerPoint® features:

  • Choose a theme for the presentation
  • At least 2 examples of Smart Art
  • At least 1 example of Word Art
  • Insert at least one shape, add text to it, and then apply a shape effect

Working With a Suicidal Client

Individuals diagnosed with depressive disorders and bipolar and related disorders are at risk for attempting and committing suicide. Therefore, it is important to accurately assess a client’s risk for suicidal and/or homicidal tendencies. To maintain a high level of care and plan appropriate treatment, you should always consider the risk of suicide/homicide in clients with depressive disorders and bipolar and related disorders. This is true even when a client does not routinely entertain thoughts of suicide/homicide or when such issues are not the specific focus of the counseling session.

To prepare:

  • Review this week’s Learning Resources.
  • Focus on one of 3 cases (“A Successful Total Failure”, “Jennifer” or “Sped Up and Out of Control” ) in Chapter 7 of the text.
  • Consider the client’s potential risk for suicide/homicide.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post by Day 4 a brief summary of one of 3 cases mentioned above. Construct and explain your diagnosis. Identify which disorders you would want to rule out. Explain what potential risks for suicide/homicide may be present with this client and how you would make this determination. Explain your recommendations for treatment, ongoing assessment, and follow-up with the client. Explain any challenges that might occur and how you might address them.
