The discussion for this week is focused on reflection on DNP competencies as described in the AACN Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice (http://www.aacn.nche.edu/publications/position/DNPEssentials.pdf) acquired through this project and practicum course. For each of the DNP Essentials include a self-assessment of your level of competence. Briefly describe the experiences this term that aided in your professional development of the DNP Essentials competencies.

Project Background:
PICOT Question: Among postpartum mothers will implementing a practice change of transitioning (first 3 hours of life) eligible newborns at bedside as compared to current process of transitioning newborns in the nursery assist with increasing skin-to-skin rates, breastfeeding initiation rates, and patient satisfaction of postpartum mothers during their hospital stay?

P: Postpartum women
I: Implementing a practice change of transitioning for all eligible newborns at bedside
C: Patient satisfaction scores, skin-to-skin & breastfeeding initiation rates pre and post implementing bedside transitioning.
O: Determine if bedside transitioning has a positive effect on patient satisfaction, skin-to skin rates
T: Plans to complete project in 8 weeks
