popular-culture-analysis-

Please select a popular culture artifact and analyze it using concepts related to organization communication. Examples of artifacts include films, television shows, books/novels/short stories, advertisements, Internet sites, etc. Focus your analysis on any significant issues/processes/ideas that stand out in the artifact and reveal organizational communication concepts. For example, if you are doing an analysis of the television series The Office, you may address issues such as the main character’s management style. Or you may discuss organizational culture in the office and what is interesting/problematic about this particular organization. You should focus on concepts covered in the first half (through week 7) of the semester for this assignment.

This paper’s objective is to engage your thinking about organizational communication concepts as experienced through popular culture (i.e., film, television, book, etc.). I want you to look outward and observe communication dynamics in organizational contexts. An overarching guiding question is: Knowing what you now know about organizing processes, what does this knowledge allow you to “see” when you look out into society as depicted in U.S. contemporary popular culture (?)

HR-Development-Employee-relations

While sometimes employees believe that they must strike to achieve their goals, these strikes can have repercussions for people other than employers.

The Chicago public school system is the third largest school district in the U.S. Heading into 2013, the school system faced a $1 billion deficit. As the school year began in 2012, Chicago teachers were in a battle with the system over evaluations and it was unclear then, who would end victor in the times to come. These strikes removed teachers for over two weeks over questionable matters on job statuses and benefits. Over 26,000 teachers and school staff members demanded higher wages, better job security and changes to a new evaluation system. The proposed settlement included yearly wage increases and preference to those laid off in the city of Chicago for three years.
