Can-you-help-

You have just been promoted from front-line supervisor to be one of the firm’s senior managers. During your business education, you learned that the primary role of a manager is to make good decisions. As a supervisor, you had frequently been making routine decisions, but you realize that decision making for the overall company can and will have far greater impact on the company and its employees.

Your boss, the chief executive officer (CEO), realizes that you do not have much practice in this higher level, decision-making process and has asked you to write a memo describing your understanding of how to make important decisions.

Your memo should address the following questions:

  • Describe at least 3 criteria that would determine whether the manager is making good decisions. What should be done to better assure that you are making a good decision?
  • In the realm of decision making, what are assumptions? Rather than use a dictionary definition, cite several specific assumptions that would go with any real-life decision you have made or have seen made at a company at which you have worked.
  • Given the importance of proper assumptions, your boss asked you to assess the accuracy of certain business assumptions and what could you do to test or confirm the credibility of them. The following were major assumptions for each firm:
    • An automobile manufacturer’s assumption that the demand for SUVs would continue because gas prices would continue to rise
    • An airline’s assumption that there was a need for an airline that provided no added ameniti

Business-Decision-Making-Project-Presentation-

Purpose of Assignment

This assignment provides students with practice in understanding when or why to use Descriptive and Inferential Statistics learned during the past five weeks of QNT/275. Students will learn to implement these statistical measures for better business decision-making.

Prepare an 11- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation for the senior management team based on the business problem or opportunity you described in Weeks 2-4.

Include on the slides what you would want the audience to see (include appropriate visual aids/layout) and include in the speaker’s notes section what you would say as you present each slide. If any source material is quoted or paraphrased in the presentation, use APA citations and references.

Draw on material you developed in the Week’s 2, 3 and 4 assignments.

Include the following in your presentation:

  • Introduction slide
  • Agenda slide
  • Describe the organization, with a brief description
  • Explain the business problem or opportunity
  • Describe the hypothesis
  • Analyze why the business problem is important
  • Identify what variable would be best to measure for this problem and explain why
  • Identify statistical methods used to analyze data
  • Apply data analysis techniques to this problem (tell which techniques should be used: descriptive statistics, inferential stats, probability) and explain why
  • Apply a possible solution to the problem/opportunity, with rationale
  • Evaluate how data could be used to measure the implementation of such a solution
  • Conclusion
  • Reference slide (if any source material is quoted or paraphrased throughout the presentation)

Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines.

Our-identity-is-shaped-by-our-family-friends-and-the-members-of-our-community

Our identity is shaped by our family, friends, and the members of our community. It is also shaped by the books we have read and the stories we heard from our parents as well as our teachers. Likewise, places we have visited, the people we have met, the incidents that have happened in our lives, and the incidents we saw happen to others have shaped our identity.

Write a personal narrative drawing from your experiences of growing up. For example, you may recall significant life experiences or people or events from the past that matter personally to you. Since it is improbable and not necessary to recall every person and discuss every event, limit yourself to specific people and events that you think are important to you. You may focus on two major incidents that happened in in your life or during your younger years, events that you keep remembering and consider worth sharing. Take notes as you reflect on your past and present perspectives regarding the incidents you describe.

You may also describe one of the members of your family or a person you admire or have met. Write how you feel about them or how what happened to you has impacted you as an individual. Use vivid description to give people and events breadth and motion. Recall actual conversations that happened; if you can’t, make up ones that resemble the truth and describe your feelings about them in a way so that your readers can visualize the people and events you describe. The events you describe can be happy, embarrassing, or horrifying, but you will need to explore their significance to you. Remember, a strong personal essays uses opens in an appealing way, uses language in such a way that it wins the readers’ hearts, and leads its readers toward a sense of significance about the people or events described.
