You should base your writing on sufficient research into the person’s biography, social world and relations, and the broader social history of London at the time to allow it to be plausible. Invention at the level of dialogue and incident is inevitable but you must avoid complete fabrication. You must place your character in a documented social world. • the paperback revolution of the 1930s to 1960s
• Caribbean and diaspora literature and publishing from the 1940s to 1960s
