Select someone who will be able to share information with you and whose medical record you will have access to so that you can complete the assignment instructions. Understand that you will share no identifying information so as not to violate HIPPA rules. Do not pick a diagnosis that you have used already in this course. Once you have picked your diagnosis and patient, you will present the information in the order it is listed below. Please follow the slide sequence exactly as it is given. You may use less than the number of slides listed below. You may not use more than the number of slides listed below.

Slide 1: Identify the topic you are presenting: You may present the topic as an actual clinical case (“We had a 42 year old female who presented with a 3 day history of abdominal pain”) or you may introduce the topic in a lecture style (“Today we are going to review abdominal pain in females, specifically the topic of recurrent urinary tract infections and possible interstitial cystitis”).

Slide 2: Describe the etiology of the diagnosis that you have selected.

Slide 3: Describe the epidemiology of the diagnosis that you have selected.

Slide 4, 5 and 6: Explain the pathophysiology of the diagnosis that you have selected.

Slide 7, 8, and 9: Describe the clinical manifestations of the diagnosis that you have selected. Include pertinent history findings (real or expected) and pertinent physical exam findings (real or expected). Please include red flag history and physical exam findings for this condition.

Slide 10-12: Identify one diagnostic test, screen or maneuver that is recommended to diagnose this condition. Support and reference your choice with evidence from the literature (clinical guidelines, recommendations by specialty group, etc). Please include a brief statement about sensitivity, specificity, and predictive value of the test, screen or maneuver.

Slide 13-14: Explain any patient education (about the diagnosis) that you would give in terms the patient would understand.

Slide 15: Reference pages. You must reference and support all facts within the presentation according to APA format. Provide a reference list.
