Do you agree or disagree with the strategy or business ethics of this company that was discussed in
this small article below/?
This was a good article about Beyond Meat and some of the new expansions the company is planning on doing. Little did I know they’ve been around since 2009 and have had products on the market since 2013. In regards to Strategic Management, they’ve accomplished several important tasks to be sustainable but I think they’ve nailed social responsibility. When a company makes a product that is a better alternative to something else; I don’t think they can go wrong.
Overall the company is going to have challenges they’ll need to overcome. For one, the competition is already mounting. Meat alternatives have been around for a while but they haven’t had the interests as they do today with everyday restaurants. Most of us have heard about Burger Kings Impossible Whopper and to be honest, I have no plans to try one but I’ve heard about it already. There is a ton of revenue to be made in this current niche market.
With these kinds of sales, it’s expected more competition will occur.
“For three months ending Sept. 28, Beyond Meat’s sales more than tripled to $92 million from the year-ago period and its net income was $4.1 million, marking its first quarterly profit. The company, which went public in May, said it now expects revenue of $265 million to $275 million for the year. It previously forecasts sales of more than $240 million.”
Currently, the stock dropped. I believe this is because people are waiting to see who else enters the market. With large companies like Nestle and Tyson who already have proven supply chains, it’ll be interesting to see if Beyond Meat is still a company in five years.
