 Style approach puts emphasis on the leadership and how they react to different situations. Style approach not only evaluates the leader, but also puts an evaluation on the people that is being lead. The approach reflects on how a particular leader leads a group of individuals to one common goal. The framework from a macros perspective to quantify leadership, as behavior a task and relationship dimension of a relational database (Northouse, 2013 (p. 84). The theory also takes into account the environment that the leader is leading in and how it affects the leaders approach. 

   There are many different behaviors associated with the style approach such as the “authoritative leader” which gives instructions to followers as they demand compliance. While the democratic leader involves all of its followers in decision making process. The overall purpose of this approach is to evaluates leadership by individual not by a group of guidelines. This style has some weakness involved as it does not evaluate performance outcomes. 

2)Leaders have many different approaches that can be utilized to fulfill their leadership duties; a certain approach may work and be effective for one leader but may not be effective for another. The style approach is geared towards leaders and this approach focuses on how leaders behave, interact, and perform. There are two general types of style approach: (1) the task behaviors and (2) relationship behaviors (Erkutlu, 2015).

Task behaviors refer to managing tasks; this is an important behavior for one to be an effective leader. Task behaviors focus on accomplishing specific goals. A good leader will be able to successfully produce positive results by accomplishing the goals of the organization (Northouse, 2013).

Relationship behaviors refer to a leader’s ability to build relationships and manage others. This is a crucial behavior to be a successful leader. Although not all leaders demonstrate strong and effective relationship behaviors, a majority of successful leaders do. An effective leader will be able to build strong relationships with their team; typically, these leaders are inspirational. By building effective relationships, it will allow leaders to earn the trust of their employees (Northouse, 2013).

The purpose of the style approach is for leaders to be able to identify the needed behaviors to be successful and effective. This approach focuses on what leaders do and how they act within the organization. The most effective leaders have a good balance of both key behaviors- task and relationship. While there are many other behaviors that a leader demonstrates, task and relationship behaviors are the two most effective (Erkutlu, 2015; Williams, 1992).
