Family Systems Therapy and Interventions
Question
Family Systems Therapy and Interventions
A family systems framework provides a way to assess,
intervene and set treatment goals. The individual is not the problem – the problem is the problem. Family members respond to stressful events based on the ecology of the family, as well as individual ecology. Family counseling may include parent support groups, parent education, and parent training. Choose 1 family-based intervention and discuss the intervention and how change is effected within the family.

Family counselors address the family as a system, in order to change dysfunctional patterns of behavior and communication. Why is systemic change necessary for lasting family and individual functioning?
