This assignment requires you to write a case study analysis of no more than 1500 words on a
current fast moving consumer good. You will be asked to analyse the product from both a
marketing and design context. Both a SWOT analysis and a photographic visual of your chosen
product are required. The product can be either a well-known FMCG brand, or a FMCG brand that
does not have marketing or design strengths, so that you may analyse the weaknesses and
opportunities associated with the product’s marketing and design. A good assignment would be
one which discusses and applies the theories addressed thus far, showing evidence of reading
outside the lecture notes (including refereed journal – not magazine – articles); makes an effort to
analyse the marketing and design issues for the product and/or category and exemplifies this
using details from the product brand, packaging and environment, as well as current articles
/readings to support your analysis. The use of both academic and non-academic sources are
required.
