Good Will Hunting
This is a story about a boy that has talent but cannot exploit it because of his status in life. Will has expertise in mathematics but has no interest or opportunity in pursuing it. Will knows he is smart and wants to live on his terms. It is interesting that Will was the Janitor but had the potential to solve severe mathematics problems. Chuckie believes that Will is wasting his talent, but he decides to choose happiness over being smart. Will is conflicted between keeping his guar up and opening up to the world. He believes his background has set him up to rejection; hence, he does not give anyone a chance to get close. He is afraid, and this hinders him from living a fulfilled life. As human beings, we experience such issues, and we end up losing the best moments in life. It is usual for a person to be rejected by people, but that should never be a reason to give up on life. The therapist and the lecturer see something special in Will. They have conflicting perspectives, but both want him to be happy. The therapist intends to show Will the importance of figuring out his life on his own, while the lecturer believes Will should not waste his talent. Both individuals are right, as Will needs both perspectives to decide to move to California. This movie intends to teach the audience about the balance between being smart and enjoying life. It portrays this accurately because Will ends up choosing both as he decides to give Skylar a chance. It is crucial for people to understand that there is more to life than being smart.
