You’re just about to turn in your AP, now it’s time to think about everything you’ve learned and accomplished this quarter as we head into the final ePortfolio. Let’s take some time to reflect on your progress so far. Answer the following questions, keeping in mind how this metacognitive approach (writing about your own writing) will serve your final ePortfolio introduction. 1. First, describe your process: research, drafting, peer review, revision. What did you do differently the second time around (AP vs. HCP)? What would you change if you could go back and start over? What would you do the same? What do you anticipate doing differently or similarly as you move toward assembling the ePortfolio? 2. Which assignments were most useful to you as you completed the AP? What was most helpful about them? Keep in mind that you may use these (assignments, lectures, peer review, in-class exercises, etc.) as artifacts in your ePortfolio. And hey, while you’re thinking about them, why not build or add them to an “Artifacts” folder in your ePortfolio right now?

In deciding whether a parent chooses to place their child
Question In deciding whether a parent chooses to place their child or children in a child home-based daycare, or a child-based community daycare is ultimately their decision on what what’s best for their lifestyle and their child or children’s needs. The pros of being in a childcare home daycare is if you are the kind of person that likes smaller learning sizes in a daycare setting and what you think you be best for your kids. There is a more bond between children and caregivers due to them usually having 1 to 4 care givers at their daycare. In a home daycare there is usually only 3 to 8 children at the home. Typically, in an in-home daycare there are usually different age groups so that there is a different mixture of age groups. In an in-home daycare there are several advantages on paying usually $300 to $1,000 a month for babies and toddlers. Some of the advantages are a nurturing homelike atmosphere, smaller groups of children, less expensive than larger daycare centers, kids socialize in the same age group and other age groups, and most importantly what people like is at an in home daycare they are usually more flexible with pick up and drop off times. In an in-home daycare an individual will get more attention. They get a better social interaction with mixed age groups. Also, in an in-home daycare there is usually less illnesses due to fewer children. Finally, a caregiver for an in-home daycare often becomes close to you and your family because of the bond. You might also consider a childcare program daycare center. In a community daycare center, there is also great advantages. If you are a person who is more specific on good education and strict rules like regular school, then this might be a good option for you. In a community based childcare center there are good advantages like potentially better educated/trained caregivers, there is a more structured environment, they are most likely to have an educationally enriched curriculum. There is more opportunities to socialize with more children and teachers, if there is a caregiver that is sick or not feeling well there is usually a substitute caregiver, and also if you like a better secured facility they will have locked doors and cameras. In a community-based daycare there is usually 20 to 150 or more children. Also, if you like your age groups to be separated well, they do have certain rooms for each age group. Average cost for a community daycare center is $380 to $1,564 a month for babies and toddlers. Just always remember they are always more reliable due to staffing. In an in-home daycare there are also several disadvantages as well. There are possible less educated teachers and a less educated curriculum. They are more likely to be exposed to more television and also there is less supervision, so you have to trust the caregivers. You also have to think about a backup caregiver in case you caregiver gets sick because they don’t have a backup care giver. Many providers don’t have formal schooling in early childhood education. You also have to keep in mind that they will be closed on holidays and their vacations they take so you would have to find a different caregiver for that amount of time. In a community-based daycare there are also disadvantages just as well as in home daycare. Some of the disadvantages of community-based daycare is that there is different people caring for you child due to shifts and high staff turnover rates. Also, less flexible on sick leave, vacation leave, and other leaves. There is a down fault of high tuition so if you can’t afford as much it’s probably not the best choice for you. The ratios of children to teachers is less. Kids will get sick a lot easier in a group daycare center. Also, most centers won’t care for sick children. One last thing is that you only drop off and pick up at a certain time, so they are usually not flexible. I personally think in home daycare is the best decision for my children. I like the bond that my kids have between the caregiver and my child. Also, I like that it is a lot cheaper because I am a single mother with no help from their father and I must budget. Also, I like the class sizes an in-home daycare has. When picking the right center to put your kids into you really must consider your personal decision and what you want for your future children. When selecting quality childcare, it is crucial to your child’s future. Family childcare providers and childcare centers can offer both poor- and high-quality childcare, each type of childcare has their advantages and disadvantages. In deciding whether a parent chooses to place their child or children in child-based home daycare, or a child-based community daycare is ultimately their decision on what works best for their lifestyle and their child or children’s needs. You have some good ideas here. However, this isn’t a research paper yet. This has to argue, not tell people to make up their own minds. You need to include source material in all of the body paragraphs. Find and include exact costs, specific problems, and so forth. Find people who say they don’t want it and quote them. Until you do that, this will be an editorial instead of an argumentative essay. Make sure you list only the things you cited on the References page, too.
