I really would be careful of just arbitrarily skipping the gathering of information phases if jumping into an

existing website. Granted the phase may be shorter but gathering updated information is always useful. For example what would happen if there were new owners, or the current owners wanted to go in a different direction with the website. This is why going about the development process in a circular motion will most times create a better site overall.
