I’m a big fan of mission statements. If done well they can give direction to the employees in an organization and even inspire them to make extra effort. A poor mission statement, on the other hand, leaves employees confused and may even attract ridicule and parodies.

Find a really good mission statement that you feel may do a good job of directing and inspiring employees, and tell us why.  Then find another one that probably does not do a good job of directing and inspiring the workers, and tell us why.  For the uninspiring mission statement, “It just sounds really stupid” is an acceptable comment.

Please use separate paragraphs for the good and bad mission statements.

Do include the mission statements themselves.
