Our experiences throughout life teach us that our attitude towards change is essential. Mahtabs story depicts a young girl that is seeking to flee from her country Afghanistan, together with her family due to continued persecutions. Therefore they resort to moving to Australia where they think that all is going to be well. Along with his family, they face numerous challenges as they try to flee to another country. With all those challenges they make it to Australia and find out that things were not as they expected. The events in the story and the attitude of the characters in the novel extrapolate our general attitudes that we have towards life. This attitudes might work for or against us, in our daily encounters
Mahtab is portrayed as a character who has an inbuilt positive attitude towards change. He has hopes for the future. Her attitude is influenced by her current devastating condition. She is very motivated and determined to change the environment under which she and her family are in. They are posed with lack of enough money to travel to Australia. Therefore they use several illegal means of transport to smuggle themselves into Australia, where they are poised with new challenges, probably worse than they underwent while in Afghanistan. So what do we learn from these experiences on our attitude towards life, by considering the life experiences we undergo through in our daily lives?
