The seminar paper is the culmination of your intellectual career in the English Department. Make sure that you turn in a well-researched, well-written and interesting essay – one that demonstrates a grasp of the material and of the craft of essay writing. The paper will consist of an original argument focusing on one or more of the course’s primary texts. Your argument must be supported by textual evidence, and must engage with relevant, legitimate secondary literature.

Specifications:

1. A cover page with title, the name of the course, date, student name and ID number

2. The paper should be 18-20 pages long, not including the Works Cited list. Longer or shorter papers will be returned to the student for editing.

3. The body of text should double-spaced, in Times New Roman, font size 12. Pages must be numbered.

4. Reference and citation should follow MLA citation style.

5. References should appear in an alphabetically ordered Works Cited list at the end of the paper, not in footnotes.
