As you develop as an online instructor, it is normal to have some anxiety about all the unknown variables you may encounter in your courses. At the same time, you may feel enthusiastic and excited to implement some of the many innovative ideas you have come across. Sharing ideas, concerns, and questions with your peers will help you stimulate your creativity and grow your repertoire of skills as an online instructor.

To Prepare:

The Instructor will assign you two colleagues to interview. Speak with each of them (via e-mail, phone call, Skype, etc.) and take detailed notes. Ask each of your interviewees the following questions:

What makes them anxious, what challenges do they expect, and what pitfalls do they hope to avoid as an online instructor?
What are their plans and aspirations as an online instructor? What do they hope to accomplish?

By Day 7 of Week 2

Submit the following:

Part 1: In approximately 500 words, compare the findings from your interviews with your personal experiences. What is similar or different? What common themes have emerged?
Part 2: In approximately 500 words, provide concrete strategies and solutions to address three of the most important themes you identified in Part 1. Cite from the Learning Resources and any additional relevant research to support your points.
