ABC company’s vice president of marketing proposes a new program
Question ABC company’s vice president of marketing proposes a new program to significantly increase product sales by 250,000 units per year throughout the 1998-2004 period. Specifically, it is suggested that the company take the following actions: A. Spend $2.5 million over the period of 1998-2000 as promotional expenditures – for example, spend $1.0 million each in the years 1998, 1999, and $0.5 million in the year 2000. B. Make a one-time investment of $1.4 million in plants and equipment needed at the beginning of 1998 to generate these additional products. No new warehouse capability is needed. This investment is to be depreciated on a straight-line basis over the seven-year period. There will be no salvage values for these plants and equipment in 2005. It is further assumed that the product unit cost is $8.00 in 1998, and it is estimated to increase by 3 percent per year. The product unit price is $20 in 1998, and it is estimated to change as manifested in the following table: Items 1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 Unit Price $20.00 $20.60 $21.00 $21.15 $21.25 $21.25 $21.00 The SG

Question i want some ideas about the affecting factors for my report please( style=”background-color:transparent;color:rgb(56,118,29);”>All operations which have any bearing on the performance or success of the test)Introduction and BackgroundConcrete and steel are the main construction materials; however, over ten times more concrete is produced than all other construction materials put together, more than 1 m3/year for every person on the planet! The properties of concrete are governed not only by the properties of its ingredients (cement, water, sand, and coarse aggregate) but also, to a great extent, by the relative proportions of these ingredients. The proportions must be selected so as to produce a concrete mix of the desired workability, strength, durability and economy. The aggregate mentioned above is divided into coarse aggregate and fine aggregate – aggregate which passes the 4mm sieve aperture is called fine aggregate whereas that retained on a 4mm sieve is called coarse aggregate. Although the division is purely arbitrary it is important to have a gradation of aggregate particles in the concrete mix ranging from approximately 20mm down to about 150m. If all the aggregate particles are of the same size, or if too many fine particles are present, an excessive amount of cement paste will be required to produce a workable mixture; a range of sizes aids in the production of an economical concrete mix.Procedure: OverviewYou will be required to fabricate standard concrete cubes (3 x100mm) and cylinders (1 x 300 height x 150mm diameter) for compression testing. Whilst still in the fresh (i.e. liquid) state you will carry out a workability test on your concrete mix, which is usually measured by its slump. The standard method of measuring slump consists of placing the freshly-mixed concrete in a mould in the form of a truncated cone, 300mm high, 200mm in diameter at the2bottom, and 100mm in diameter at the top. The concrete is placed in the slump cone in three layers, each layer rodded 25 times to compact it. When filled, the mould is immediately withdrawn by lifting it gently, and the slump of the concrete is measured at the vertical distance from the top of the mass to its original 300mm height. An increase in the amount of mixing water will increase the slump, but it will also decrease the strength and increase the tendency of the ingredients of the concrete to segregate unless more cement is added. Increasing the amount of cement paste increases the cost, so all three factors – strength, workability, and cost – are interrelated in a complex way. After casting, the cubes will be covered with polythene and at approximately 24-hours demoulded (by staff) and submerged in a curing tank until required for testing. Tests will be undertaken at 7-days (by students).

Question PLEASE ANSWER ALL QUESTIONSA 3-MW wind turbine possesses the basic circuit diagram shown in Fig. 24.36 of the textbook. The turbine speed is 21 r/min and the gearbox has a ratio of 1:100. The output of the double-fed generator is connected to a 60-Hz grid and the stator has 4 poles. The turbine produces its rated 3 MW when the blades rotate at 20 r/min. Neglecting all power losses at various components, calculate: (a) the synchronous speed of the generator; (b) the speed of rotation of the rotor; (c) the value of the slip speed; (d) the value of the slip; (e) the power output of the stator [MW]; (f) the power output of the rotor to converter (5) [MW]; (g) the power carried respectively by converters (5) and (6) [MW]; (h) the ratio of power carried by converter (5) to the total power (3 MW) produced by the turbine [%]; and (i) the frequency generated by converter (5).
