1. Think of the person with whom you work least well. If you are not currently working or work in a position where you do not often see coworkers, you may think of a least preferred classmate, etc. He or shemay be someone you work with now or someone you knew in the past; however, try to apply the model to your current situation if you can. Thatperson does not have to be the person you like the least, but should be theperson with whom you had the most difficulty in getting a job done. 2. Scoring Interpretation:

Your final LPC score is the sum of the numbers you circled on the 18 scales. If your score is 57 or below, you are a low LPC, which suggests that you are task motivated. If your score is within the range of 58 to 63, you are a middle LPC, which means you are independent. People who score 64 or above are called high LPCs, and they are thought to be more relationship motivated.

What score did you obtain on the measure? Do you agree with your score? Use what you know about high and low LPC leadership styles to discuss your answer.

My score is 79 which is above 64 and they are thought to be more relationship motivated.

Answer the following questions about your current employment (or school) situation. Think of times when you are required to work with others and when you are in a position to potentially lead a group or situation.

  • Are leader-member relations good or poor? (Are you well-liked/respected by team members [good member relations]? Are you replacing a loved coworker that no one wanted to leave [poor member relations]?)
  • Describe the task. Is the task you’re doing structured, or is it more unstructured? How much experience do you have in solving similar problems?
  • Do you have strong or weak power over your team?
