two teams playing a trivia game
Question
There are two teams playing a trivia game. Both teams are so smart that they know the answer to all the questions
that will be asked, but they have the option to provide a wrong answer. Each time a team gets a question right, a mark is put on the game board. The winner of the trivia contest is the team which earns the 12th mark on the game board. Each round begins with one mark being added to the game board then the blue team is asked three questions followed by the red team being asked three questions. Note that this means there is one mark on the board before any questions are asked. If the mark from the beginning of the round is the final mark, then the blue team wins (because they would have anyway by answering the next question correctly).
a) What is the best first move for the blue team
b) What should each team’s strategy be?
c) Is there a first mover advantage, second mover advantage, or neither?
