Using the “Sample Outline and Critical Analysis” at the end of the Chapter Two in our text as your guide, compose a 200-400 word analysis of a public sculpture that is on display somewhere in your home town or where you are currently living. Typically such works are on display in front of major public buildings like town halls or libraries or on university campuses. The sculpture should strike you as visually interesting and worth a more careful analysis. You may want to do some internet research before just driving around.
As you examine the work carefully in person, take notes and also take several photographs so you will be able to recall and respond to the individual details of the piece in a careful way. You will want to include those photos with your analysis. Your analysis will be evaluated according to completeness, thoughtfulness, integration of textual material, and craftsmanship.
