1. In the Gorgias, Socrates claims that the tyrant is powerless. What is the rationale for his claim? Are you convinced? 

2. In the Gorgias, Socrates impugns rhetoric and claims that the crowds are ignorant and led by their passions. How does his attach on rhetoric depend upon this view of the masses? 

3. Why does Plato think philosophers should be kings? Do you agree?

6. Discuss the allegory of the cave, what it represents and the stakes for Plato’s political philosophy.
