BIOS 5030 800 Fall 2019, Bioethics Research Paper and Presentation
Your paper should include the following information:
- Section A: Introduction: Use this section to introduce the bioethical topic you are addressing. This section must also contain scientific background information and historical perspective. Also in this section discuss the biological basis of the topic. If applicable to your topic, discuss how the biotechnology works. Be sure to appropriately cite your background information.
- Section B: Exanimation of Viewpoints. In this section provide a substantive explanation of varied viewpoints and perspective that can be brought to bear on your topic. As you discuss each viewpoint be sure to elucidate arguments in support of that perspective/opinion. At this point in your paper you are not to make any particular argument FOR any one perspective (that will be done in Section C)
- Section C: The Case for the Most Ethical Approach. “Take an ethical stand, and argue the ethical viewpoint constructively. Back your argument with ethics supporting your viewpoint of the ethical use of this technology. Your argument should be scholarly, not based on an emotional response. Cite any sources you use and base your response in ethics. Use third person. The word ”I” should never appear in your paper.”
- Section D: Map to Secondary Science Education Standards. In this section describe the ways in which this topic can be taught as a means to meet current science education standards. If your topic is not applicable to this, provide an explanation with regard to why such is the case.
Additional Requirements
Include a cover page and a bibliography.
Format guidelines: Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri font, size 12 point, all margins I inch, Double space paragraphs (figures or tables need not be double spaced). Provide Titles for all figures and tables.
The number of pages are not prescribed yet it is doubtful that a document of less than 10 pages would actually be an adequate treatment of the subject matter.
Use a minimum of six research sources.
- None may be from a general encyclopedia, or Wikipedia.org.
- Only one may be from a textbook,
