Question Proofread for me please,Thank you****************************Introduction Frankfort hospital is a small hospital located in a town of Frankfort, Kansas. This hospital has been serving its the community for many years. Lately, this hospital is looking into ways to increase its income by diversifying its services through vertical integration. Vertical integration is a idea when a healthcare or hospital is trying to increase its income by acquiring or providing different types of services and expanding market influence (Mange, 2000). Vertical integration in a healthcare setting is opening of different clinical services that can generate income by providing services like home health care, long term care, pulmonary rehabilitations, cardiac rehabilitation, hospice etc. Those different services can generate income to the hospital. The hospital is trusted by the community to provide the medical needs of the public with honesty and integrity. The hospital administration is proposing the expansion of medical care via vertical integration to create different specialty services to increase income to the hospital. This expansion plan shouldn’t be at the expense of the quality services that this is supposed to provide to the community. These different changes should bring the value to the public. Some studies have showed when hospitals expand their services as to vertically integrated delivery system, the quality care that they deliver reduces [2, 3, 4]. So, Especial care should be taken on the quality care while implementing the changes. To meet this ambitious money generating goal, it has to overcome two main obstacles. The first problem is the limited specific skill set or experienced workforce present in the city. The second issue is to modernized the outdated equipment of the hospital. These goals are to be accomplished with understanding that this hospital has inadequate finance and these changes has to be implemented within one year. Discussion To boost up its financial condition, Frankfort hospital is looking into opening new specialty services. This organization has an outdated medical equipment. Its current employees do not have the specialty skill needed to perform the proposed new services. The hospital administration is requesting to open different specialty services to improve the financial well-being of the hospital. Knowing that the current financial situation of this organization, hiring new employee to each specialty care services might play a counterintuitive role in the organization’s bank. So, to tackle this situation with little financial risk, it can be done in the following ways. Before going in hiring new employees it might be beneficial to keenly study the current employees of the hospital and their position description. This could enable the administrators to identify the personnel to work in the proposed specialty services by training and developing the current employees in multiple skills so that they can perform various tasks at the same time in order to address the shortage. This can be presented to the employees to voluntarily join the training to get specialty training. For joining the different trainings, they might be compensated a little increase in salary and opportunity to work overtime when needed. For the long run they might also be marketable with the training they will be receiving. Select all the employees that can be available and suitable to perform all the required tasks to perform. Recruiting new graduates from different colleges and providing them with all necessary trainings to perform these new services can also be another route. When these new graduates are trained by well-seasoned doctors, nurses, and therapists, this can solve the employee shortage and provide top notch quality care without much financial burden to the organization. Before opening new specialty services, they also need to study market availability for the services they are proposing to open. Instead of opening all the services, they need to select the services that this community needs. The goal should be while the community is benefiting from the new services, the hospital financial needs should also be improving. To run the new specialty services, it may require new equipment. Instead of purchasing all new equipment right away at once, they may need to outsource some key functions in a manner that will save costs and maintain quality service delivery. Hiring some to provide the equipment for the short run is another option, as the organization does not have adequate financing to enable purchases and give time until they are ready financially to purchase the required equipment. Obtaining loans and other sources of financing is the other option, in order to support the key operating activities. Barriers There are various barriers that would exist in meeting the various needs, however, there are also various ways out. First, with regard to training the employees, one barrier would be their attitude towards the training; which will be dealt with by informing them the benefits of the training and development programs. Furthermore, outsourcing will face the problem of maintaining quality; this can be solved by making the parties to the outsourcing aware of the keep performance measures that they will need to abide by. Hiring of equipment may face the challenge of high charges; this can be solved by using competitive tendering; then choosing the provider that will offer the best quality at the lowest charge. Lastly, the obtaining of loans may face the drawback of productivity. This can be solved by forecasting the revenues that will be generated; then making a decision on whether the loans are productive or not. Explanation There are various problems that can be anticipated, which will need ways to be addressed. First, is the quality of their work; which can be solved by setting standards that they will need to meet as well as a code of ethics to guide their behavior. Moreover, there is the issue with productivity; which can be solved by using a pay system based on the employees’ level of productivity. Motivation of the employees is the other issue; which can be solved by using a variety of ways such as providing a conducive working environment. All this will take managerial commitment and cohesion within the organization in order to achieve the various objectives. Telemedicine Services Recently the number of doctors working in rural hospitals is decreasing. Due to this problem the access to quality health care diminishing in hospitals like Frankfort hospital. In a rural area only 39.9 doctors are for 100, 000 but it is 53.3 doctors 100000 in urban areas (Telemed2U, 2018.). Telemedicine can play a huge role to counterbalance this problem. By using technology doctors can see their patients remotely. This method can increase access to care, increase quality care, enable doctors to monitor patients while at home and decreases the costs to the patient (Telemed2U, 2018).. When patients go to hospitals like Frankfort and can’t find a specialist to see right away could have long lasting consequences on the patient’s life. Delayed diagnosis even for hours could change the prognosis of the patient’s disease. Illnesses that might have been treatable if discovered at an early stage, such as cancers, can have a devastating outcome at late stages, leading to shorter life spans. These are an issue that needs to be addressed across the board in the health care system. Since the Frankfort hospital computer system is new and updated, this may enable it have to open up the telemedicine services. By doing this their patients will have access to see a specialist with out living their home hospital. This could enable to see the patients the specialist with out delay and this the money that could be lost by referring the patient to another hospital will stay at home. This is double win for the patient and the hospital. Some studies have showed when hospitals expand their services as to vertically integrated delivery system, the quality care that they deliver reduces (Carlin, 2015). Summary/Conclusion Frankfort Hospital has a great vision and looking into expanding services to the community by opening different specialty services. Some of the services can be easily implemented since they don’t require too much capital but some needs huge capital for equipment purchase and recruit skilled trained personnel from another city or state. Detailed study is needed to look into some of the proposed services. One of the areas to look into is if the patient load needed to effectively run this specialty service is or could be present to utilize the opened services. If the study shows there are plenty of patients that can utilize the services, it is it can be implemented slowly without affecting the delivery of quality care. Implementing these services could generate more money and could improve the financial issues of the hospital. Adapting this new policy must be efficiency and strategy based References1. Byrne MM, A.
