“International Issues in Gender-Based Violence,” including human trafficking and slavery, rape as an instrument and crime of war, female genital mutilation, honor killings, and related actions that reflect both a cultural bias of control and oppression of women.
For this chapter, please answer the following in questions:

  1. How is the concept of shame created in cultures where honor-based violence is prevalent?
  2. How do women enter and exit the experience of human trafficking?
  3. What challenges exist in responding to cases of rape during times of war?

in answering these questions, consider any early ideas you have about your area of research for the major course paper. To the extent that you can use these concepts in your ultimate research paper and presentation, you should orient your analysis and content in that direction.

In the past few months we’ve seen COVID-19 disrupt things world-wide. Major sporting events have been cancelled, Cruise lines shut down, tons of airline and hotel cancellations, weddings put on hold, even Disney Land, Disney World and other theme parks have closed. The list is extensive!
Even more alarming is the recent news we’ve heard about the world-wide supply chain of medicine, which basically comes from China. Imagine what would happen if the world became sick and China shut-down the supply chain!
