sex offenders

Question

1. Typically, sex offenders are evaluated for civil commitment when they are at the end of their criminal

sentence. Clinicians may be called on to conduct violence risk assessments during incarceration, in preparation for a civil commitment hearing or during an offender’s period of civil commitment. Clinicians are called upon to write clinical reports each step along the way. What ethical dilemmas do these issues related to sex offender civil commitment present for the clinician?

2. Larry Steinberg’s assertion that juveniles should not be subject to the death penalty informed the court decision in Roper v. Simmons, 2005. This in turn impacted on the Court’s decision in Atkins v. Virginia, exempting those with ‘mental retardation’ from the death penalty. These cases have implications for how we do evaluations, what we write in reports, etc. Explain and describe some ethical considerations for clinicians.

3. Expert testimony is given in court by clinicians in both criminal and non-criminal cases, from worker’s comp cases to child custody cases to civil suits by victims to civil commitments, to name a few situations. Considering the Daubert Standard, what should the expert include in his/her explanation of findings, limits of findings, recommendations in order to maintain objectivity and minimize the possibility of harm to any party in the proceedings?

solve limit problems

Question

I need thorough explanation, step by step, showing how to solve limit problems. ______ 1.

lim ( ( √5x-4 ) -1) / 3x^2 x=>8 2. lim 2x-10/x^2-25 x=>5 3. Use the limit definition of the derivative to show that if: f(x)=mx+b, then f'(x)=m 4) Use limits to compute the derivative: f'(2), where f(x)=x^3 5) Apply the 3-step method to compute f'(x) for the function; simplify the difference quotient as much as possible before taking limits. f(x)= -3x^2+1 6) The following limit is a definition of f'(a). Determine the function f(x) and the value of a. lim ( (2+h)^3 -8 ) / h h=>0

My Ethical Theory

Question

 “My Ethical Theory

Thread: In this course you have spent a considerable amount of time studying metaethics, examining various ethical theories that promise to provide you with a methodology for determining right from wrong. These included a simple “list” metaethic, Virtue Ethics, Natural Law Ethics, Ethical Egoism, Utilitarianism, Duty Ethics, and the Revelational Christian Ethic, as well as related metaphysical views such as Social Contract Theory, Moral Realism, Divine Command Theory, and Divine Nature Theory. Now it is time for you to decide for yourself how you are going to distinguish what is moral from what is immoral. This is your chance to devise your own metaethical theory and present it to the class.”

I am trying to figure out which theories work best for determining right from wrong, not including those that deal with religion. I can send previous DB questions with my answers to show where I have been going, but it seems that I’m not understanding some of the ethical theories completely and am not taking a strong stance either way. Is there somewhere that breaks down each theory in simpler terms? I seem to not be completely for or against certain theories and that’s making my answers and responses wishy washy. While this week’s post is to basically make our own theory, I need to better understand the others to integrate and make something work.
