My Ethical Theory

Question

 “My Ethical Theory

Thread: In this course you have spent a considerable amount of time studying metaethics, examining various ethical theories that promise to provide you with a methodology for determining right from wrong. These included a simple “list” metaethic, Virtue Ethics, Natural Law Ethics, Ethical Egoism, Utilitarianism, Duty Ethics, and the Revelational Christian Ethic, as well as related metaphysical views such as Social Contract Theory, Moral Realism, Divine Command Theory, and Divine Nature Theory. Now it is time for you to decide for yourself how you are going to distinguish what is moral from what is immoral. This is your chance to devise your own metaethical theory and present it to the class.”

I am trying to figure out which theories work best for determining right from wrong, not including those that deal with religion. I can send previous DB questions with my answers to show where I have been going, but it seems that I’m not understanding some of the ethical theories completely and am not taking a strong stance either way. Is there somewhere that breaks down each theory in simpler terms? I seem to not be completely for or against certain theories and that’s making my answers and responses wishy washy. While this week’s post is to basically make our own theory, I need to better understand the others to integrate and make something work.
