New Bedford College Requires All Students Who Live In Its Dormitories To Buy A

New Bedford College requires all students who live in its dormitories to buy a meal ticket. The meal ticket is to be used in the cafeteria for all breakfasts, dinners and five lunches every week for each week the college is in session. Students do not like to go to the cafeteria. They think it is unfriendly and institutional. All who can afford it eat off-campus unless the weather is bad. On bad-weather days, the cafeteria is busy with students, faculty, and staff. By the end of the day, it is also very messy because the cafeteria patrons do not clean up after themselves. Spilled food is on the floor and the tables. The cafeteria supervisor thinks that if the cafeteria patrons could be made to perform their role in service delivery then everyone would benefit. Suggest some possible strategies to enhance patron participation.

How Would You Respond To This Post? With Nordstrom Being Well Known As A

How would you respond to this post? With Nordstrom being well known as a conservative, exceptional quality high-end fashion brand combined with fast, trendy street fashion and off-the-runway brand; this combination can result in a very successful partnership. Over the past few years with the rise of e-commerce retailers, boutiques, and pop up shops, many department stores have been taking a hit, especially with the younger market such as the millennials. With Nordstrom partnering with Topshop, it will bring a new flavor into their brand. By attracting a younger target market and even expanding its reach with new and existing consumers seeking conservative, new fashion products. With Topshop already being a well-known brand in the fashion industry in non-U.S. regions, by partnering with Nordstrom is a beneficial strategic move for Topshop’s exposure within the U.S. market, expansion strategy, and market research strategy which will provide Topshop a better direction of their next step in the U.S retailer market. Through Nordstrom-Topshop partnership utilizing market segments based on a conservative, high quality, fast fashion characteristic, it can provide a more competitive advantage when compared to other retailers. To say if this is a risky move despite its downward sales, it might be, but it is also a very strategic move to provide a better understanding of its consumers and a new direction for both stores.

How Would You Respond To This Post? The Partnership Between Nordstrom’s And Topshop Fits

How would you respond to this post? The partnership between Nordstrom’s and Topshop fits perfect for Nordstrom’s current brand management strategy. Nordstrom is known for their quality and fashionable clothing, and the partnership with Topshop will help increase sales and customer satisfaction. Nordstrom offers a variety and affordable clothing to a conservative market. However, their target audience is typically for customers in their late 20’s and up. This partnership will appeal to Nordstrom target audience because it will diversify Nordstrom’s clientele. Nordstrom goal is to attract a younger audience as well as keep their conservative audience. The partnership of Topshop will help achieve this goal and add flavor to Nordstrom. Topshop offers trendy clothing in which all ages can find clothing to fit into their wardrobe. I believe that this partnership will differentiate Nordstrom from its competitors due to the variety of trendy clothing from Topshop. Although trendy clothing is a plus, the pricing of the clothes will be reasonable and different since Topshop is not in a lot of US stores. Majority of customers, such as myself, enjoy buying unique and quality clothing. Not many department stores offer trendy clothing at a reasonable price. The partnership with Topshop’s is risky since Topshop parent company reported sales to decline in the first year (Clifford, 2012). This is a concern for Nordstrom, but I believe that Nordstrom’s stable brand will benefit Topshop. Not only would Topshop benefit, but Nordstrom can benefit as well with the trendy clothing and a younger audience. However, business is about taking risks, and Nordstrom is only introducing Topshop to a small number of stores as a test run. Overall, fashion is always changing and clothing stores must stay on top of the fashion trend. Reference

Buyers And Sellers In Government Contracts Have Many Statutes And Regulations Addressing Acceptable Conduct.

Buyers and sellers in government contracts have many statutes and regulations addressing acceptable conduct. We could spend the entire course just on the False Claims Act or Truth in Negotiations. While all of these restrictions are important, the two I would like to focus on for very practical reasons are the restrictions on access to data during the competitive process and post-employment restrictions for government employees. Briefly answer just one of the questions below and comment on one other posting. Question #3: You are a proposal manager for a government contractor working on a huge new program. You have an interview with a former employee of your main competitor who wants you to hire him. He happens to mention that when he left his former employer, he still had the entire text of their proposal for the same program on his laptop. If you have this information, it will give you a huge advantage in the competition. What do you do? And why?

How Will You Respond To This? Finch (2012) Describes 4 Levels Of Market Segmentation.

How will you respond to this? Finch (2012) describes 4 levels of market segmentation. These are mass marketing, segment marketing, niche marketing and customized marketing. As one works down the levels each gets more specific and smaller. The smaller the market, the more specific and targeted the marketing can be. Segmentation can be based on location of buyers (geographic segmentation), population statistics (demographic segmentation), the relationship between product and consumer (behavioral segmentation) or values and attitudes (psychographic segmentation). When marketing computers, companies will want to appeal to the needs and values of each generation. Baby boomers did not grow up with computers the way Gen Y and Zers have, thus companies would want to focus on ease of use and functionality. Functionality is also important to younger generations. Younger generations are also going to want computers that are a good deal and give the most bang for their buck, as many Millennials have crippling student debt and expenses, wanting new, fast technology that is affordable and multi-purposed.   Cost would also be a factor for baby boomers as they begin to retire and may have fixed incomes as well. I believe the most successful companies are the ones who are marketing across generations- My 85 year old grandmother and 10 year old nephew, and everyone I know in between have smart phones, which says companies like Apple and Samsung reaching across all generations and creating brand loyalty. Companies like Amazon are also reaching many different generations, as they offer fast, affordable and accessible products and delivery across markets and industries. Again, everyone from my grandmother to nephews shop on Amazon, at least occasionally.

How Will Respond To This Post? “Market Segmentation Describes Both A Process And Strategy

How will respond to this post? “Market segmentation describes both a process and strategy by which the total market for a product is divided into smaller parts or segments” (Finch, 2012, para 2). The different levels of market segmentation are mass marketing where the marketer, attempts to appeal to the entire market with one offer. Segment marketing, which divides consumers into groups based on particular characteristics and niche marketing, focuses on targeting the specific market need of a particular group. Lastly, customized marketing focuses on each prospective buyer being treated as a separate segment. (Finch, 2012). A marketing strategy that manufacturers of personal computers could implement to attract both the Gen Y and baby boomer generation is segment marketing. To increase their desire to purchase more computers targeting their preferences would be the key to success. Generation Y, which is much more technologically savvy, needs to know that they are getting all the bells and whistles, like graphics cards, and tons of memory while still being able to afford the equipment. The baby boomer generation might not have much of a problem with pricing, but they might be less interested in the bells and whistles that come along with the computer. Their need is for ease of use and simplicity. Finch (2012) stated, “identifying the specific benefits consumers seek from the product category is often the first tier of investigation in defining fairly broad segments” (Section 6.2, para. 6). An example of a company that has already done an excellent job of marketing across generations is the Ford motor company. The company has managed to retain past customers and still appeal to current generations. Ford operates in both the private car and commercial vehicles markets and to appeal to the new generation has started selling hybrids with the appeal of speed and power. The company keeps being innovative and appealing to a variety of customers.
