This assignment is worth 15 points.  It should be either 3-4 pages in length, double spaced with a 12 point font and in paragraph form, or you can submit a powerpoint/google slides style presentation with at least 15 slides and audio explaining each slide.  You should have at least 3 references without using any of the assigned readings as a reference.  A grading rubric is attached to this post.

1.  Essay on Vulnerability.  For this essay, expand a discussion about the concept of ‘vulnerability’.  Viewing vulnerability as our ‘natural habitat’ rather than our enemy.  Define vulnerability.  Discuss myths associated with the term.  Discuss how vulnerability can help us to explore the deeper meaning and mystery of being human.  Discuss your personal reflection on exploring the concept of vulnerability.

Choose 1 mental health condition that may impact an aging person.  Describe the condition, how it may impact all aspects of a person’s day to day functioning and their relationship with loved ones.  Describe the potential impact on loved ones/caregivers.  Discuss how decisions and direction provided by professionals may have a negative impact on the person’s quality of life.  Discuss how decisions and direction provided by professionals may have a positive impact on the person’s quality of life.  Describe the role of the Social Worker in working with an aging person coping with a mental health issue.
