Develop a set of at least 20 questions to be asked during an interview of a professional in the field of psychology.

Develop a set of at least 20 questions to be asked during an interview of a professional in the field of psychology.

Assignment Instructions
This assignment requires developing a set of at least 20 questions to be asked during an interview of a professional in the field of psychology. Interview questions must be submitted for professor review and approval and for dialog on the Week 3 Forum of the course. The interview cannot be conducted before questions have been approved and discussed on the week 3 Forum. Questions should inquire about the interviewee’s job responsibilities; academic preparation for entry into the field including course work and practical hands-on training, on-the-job training and experience; continuing education and licensing requirements; courses they would recommend taking; satisfaction with the job, pay range and work environment; work/home life balance, how to avoid “burn-out” and recommendations the interviewee would make to anyone considering entering the field.

Friends, co-workers, family members, supervisors, bosses, college professors or persons not working in psychology specialty or very closely related areas cannot be interviewed for this assignment. Persons interviewed must have a masters or doctoral degree in psychology and must work directly with clients/patients. Thus those who may be in psychology but who do mainly research and teaching (e.g., experimental and social psychologists) cannot be used. Examples of professionals in related fields which can be used include school psychologists, addictions counselors, marriage and family counselors and psychiatrists. Teachers and pastors, social workers and school counselors are examples of professionals who cannot be interviewed for this assignment.

A paper, articulating questions asked during the interview and the interviewee’s answers must be submitted, with each question asked in bold font and the interviewee’s double-spaced answers in plain font font underneath to separate questions from answers is due at the end of Week 7 of the course term. The interviewee will be identified and his or her professional title, academic degree and number of years of experience in an introduction paragraph prior to the first question/answer pair. The paper will conclude with two to three substantive paragraphs describing what the student learned during the interview. No References page is required at the end of this paper since you should reference the interview one time in the paper, and only once, in the Abstract as a personal communication. The OWL resource can be consulted, as well as this week’s lesson, for how to reference a personal communication.

Interviews may be conducted on site, on the phone or via Skype but not using email, instant messaging or chat rooms. A brief letter of documentation from the interviewee indicating that the interview was conducted over the phone or in-person must be submitted to the course instructor’s MyCampus email address which is located on the classroom syllabus and Roster screens. The interviewee should cc the student interviewer to this email so that you know they have contacted the instructor. Please be sure your interviewee is okay with emailing documentation before you select him or her. DO NOT pay for an interview. Contact friends or family to help refer you to a psychologist for interview, or contact your local professional psychology association, a local elementary, middle or high school (for school counselors, not teachers) or military base to secure an interview. Start searching for an interviewee in week one so that you are not stressed by waiting until the last minute to do so. It may take time to find someone who meets criteria, and sometimes interviewees cancel, so you will need time to find a new interviewee.

The paper reporting on your interview of a professional in the field of psychology must have a properly APA formatted title page, and an abstract. It must be double-spaced in size 12 Times New Roman or Arial font and submitted as an attachment on the Assignments screen, not typed into the student comments box.

This paper should be at least 8 pages, not counting the title page and abstract. No references page is required since you will reference the paper as a personal communication in your abstract. That tells your reader the source used for the content of the paper.
