How Would You Respond To This Post? Nordstrom’s Current Brand Management Strategy, Per This
How would you respond to this post? Nordstrom’s current brand management strategy, per this article is reflected as a conservative company. However, this article is from 2012, and Nordstrom has undergone and continues to undergo a huge transformation over the last seven years to grow into the millennial and the digital age. In my opinion, the partnership with Topshop was just the start for Nordstrom to begin this shift in focus for their brand strategy. According to Clifford, Nordstrom kept its atmosphere aesthetic by not changing their music within the Topshop part of their stores (2012). By beginning this partnership with Topshop, Nordstrom began to appeal to a new market of millennials and fashion forward buyers. Nordstrom was able to differentiate itself from the competition by doing just this; broadening its market to not only focus on conservative designer buyers, but open to this new demographic. I don’t feel this was a risky move for Nordstrom due to how the individual stores that had opened within the United states were performing. Also, this was a smart move due to how the market demographics of millennials were changing the atmosphere of department stores in the United States. It is difficult to compare the success of stores within the United States and the United Kingdom because of how different the demographics are between the countries. Because this article was written in 2012, I also wanted to investigate how Nordstrom was performing. Just googling Nordstrom brand strategies, five out of the front page of six delved into the brand changes that have been occurring since 2012 in order to evolve in the direction they started in from partnering with Topshop. They have expanded into the digital age and offered more options for a broadened demographic online and in-stores. As a “self-proclaimed” fashion-forward millennial, Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack are two preferred places I like to shop, therefore showing from my personal experience that these changes are working for my market. However, even though Nordstrom has made many changes, they still need to work on their mobile and e-commerce experiences (Morgan, 2019). We will see where this company continues to grow with these innovative changes.

Electropic LLC Is A Respected And Profitable Website Design And Hosting Company In Colossal
Electropic LLC is a respected and profitable website design and hosting company in Colossal Corporation’s technology group. Melissa Aldredge has been a project manager at Electropic LLC for several years and was recently considered for promotion to a senior project manager position. Ultimately, the promotion was awarded to another long-term employee, June Pyle. June and Melissa have a history of one-upping each other and sharing an internal rivalry within the company. Melissa recently reported internally that she had learned that June, who was given the promotion over her, had never finished her MBA degree. All of June’s business cards have “MBA” after her name, and the signature line of her email reads “June Pyle, MBA.” Electropic LLC’s policy manual states that potential employees must submit transcripts for all degrees listed on their resumes. However, this requirement was not in place 10 years ago when June Pyle was hired. June has a history of stellar performance and was promoted not because of her MBA, but because of her consistently exemplary work. June has received excellent performance evaluations during her time at Electropic LLC, and her leadership has led to increased revenue as well as positive press for the company. Her record of success is what led to her promotion. As a result of Melissa’s report, the director of human resources sent an email to all employees who were hired prior to the policy change requiring transcript validation, asking that they provide transcripts to validate their credentials. June did not respond to the director’s request for transcripts and was called into the director’s office. In a very tense and tearful interview, June confessed to the director that she does not have an MBA. She admitted that she was 12 credits away from completing her degree, but when her dad got sick, she had to drop out. She said that she really needed a job to support her family and she put the MBA on her resume hoping it would help her find a job. She shared that she always intended to go back to school but became so busy with work that she didn’t have time. Once she was hired, she felt that there was no turning back and she had to keep the lie going by placing “MBA” in her email signature line and on her business cards. An MBA was not a requirement for the assistant project specialist job June was hired for 10 years ago, but four years ago, it was made a requirement for the senior project manager position she holds now. Two of the current senior project managers do not have MBA degrees because they were promoted before this requirement was in place. Vice President Dodger has asked you to write a memo with your recommendations on how human resources should handle this issue. June has a record of excellence with Electropic LLC, and her superiors would be unhappy to lose her; however, ethical practice and the law must be considered here as well.
Pick A Company/brand That You Are Interested In, And Follow It On Social
Pick a company/brand that you are interested in, and follow it on social media. Most companies have public Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds, so you do not need to have the accounts in order to see what the company is posting. Examine what the company is doing across these feeds, and write a paper discussing your findings. Some areas you might want to consider: who is/are the target market(s) for the messages? does the company change the message across the different social media platforms? does the company interact with its followers (respond to posts)? which posts were effective or ineffective and why? These are just suggestions for how you may approach your analysis of the social media. Please be sure to cite any sources you use in your paper using proper APA format.
