“Rent-a-center is a company that uses information technology for strategic purposes. As their chief technology officer says. “we see IT as the investment for the company.” This type of reasoning means that to provide further services for the consumers for both on-field stores and their online services. This postivity bolds well as Rent-A-Center is one of the leading facilities regarding renting goods and services to consumers. One of the best decision to use IT for strategic usages come from their decision to make the purchase order process go electronic. The leaning towards going electronic can lead to turnaround time for ordering new merchandise from consumers by the significant amount. The lesser turnaround time lead to consumers leaving less opportunity to obtain an item through RAC. Another point that draws from the electronic process order is that by getting renting items to the consumers, they can have more floor space for more items. This more floor space in their operating location can lead to the last point for the inventory control for their store location. Seeing which stores get the most traffic and least amount of traffic, and combing with technology to see which items and the amount need to go to which location.
