I chose the American movie, “There will be Blood’” In this essay I have to discuss at least 2 expressive technique which are mise-en-scene, Cinematography and Edition. Obviously, when looking at lighting you should, by contrast, also consider possible expressive use of shadows. Editing is the process of connecting one shot to another. Shots of film tend to acquire meaning when they are juxtaposed with other shots and structured into an edited sequence. Through the association of ideas, editing connects one shot with another, one scene with another, and so on. The ultimate goal of editing is generally to tell a story coherently–although some directors employ editing to disorient audiences or otherwise frustrate their expectations.
