In this research paper, I chose to use Identity as my theme. In my opinion, Identity through art gives it so much more meaning and I feel that art one of the most powerful ways to express ones self. Identity as a theme does have many sub-themes which could range from cultural identity, virtual identity, racial identity, and even political identity. That being said, I’ve chose a few artists that have a very strong impact on identity in the art world and most of their work is to help others understand their own identity and the importance of it. If I was to ever create any art work, it would be safe to say that I would be classified under identity because I do feel that I would want to show who I am and convey it through my art. The three artists I chose to write about are Shirin Neshat, Nancy Burson, and Pepon Osorio.
