Learning Activity #1Every organization has their strengths
Learning Activity #1<br/>Every organization has their strengths and
weaknesses; but it doesn’t mean the strengths will make the organization succeed or that the weaknesses will cause the organization to fail. Every effective manager/leader will most likely face opposition within their own organization; however, in order to capitalize on the strengths and mitigate the weaknesses, an organization must first understand their key internal forces. An internal analysis is an opportunity for the employees within the organization to understand how what they do fits into the organization as a whole. Likewise, in order to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate threats an organization must first understand their key external forces. Using either Target or Applebee’s, make an abbreviated IFE and EFE chart using the format below. Post your completed charts in the discussion.
IFE – Key Internal Factors
Internal Strengths
Weight*
Rating**
Weighted Score (WxR)
Internal Weaknesses
Total Weighted Score
100.
*Individual weights must add to 100.
**Ratings key – 1 = Major Weakness; 2 = Minor Weakness; 3 = Minor Strength; 4 = Major Strength
EFE – Key External Factors
Opportunities
Weight*
Rating** (1-4)
Weighted Score (WxR)
Threats
Total Weighted Score
100.
*Individual weights must add to 100.
**Ratings key – 1 = Poor; 2 = Below Average; 3 = Above Average; 4 = Superior
Once you have completed both charts from Learning Activity #1 construct a paragraph that discusses: (1) why you chose those strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and (2) what the weighted IFE and EFE scores mean for that organization from a strategic planning point of view. Offer supporting rationale for your explanation and be sure to reference your statements using proper format (APA)
