Select an application and a name for the product (paddle). For this assignment, you must first identify the scope by indicating what the application is, who the intended users are (target customers), and where might it be used. Once you have identified the scope, determine the objectives and constraints for material selection for the given application and rank them in-order of importance. Based on these requirements, select 2 suitable materials and provide a suitable manufacturing technique for each material. At least one of the two materials must be a type of metal, polymer, or ceramic. For the second option you may choose any material that you deemed suitable. For this assignment, you must provide a rationale for the chosen material and manufacturing process. Include a 200 words abstract that summarizes the scope, choice of material, and recommended manufacturing processes. The document should summarize the application selected, the chosen materials, and the recommended manufacturing processes. Other important considerations may include cost (e.g. raw materials, transportation, energy to manufacture, availability of supplies, etc.), marketability, and appearance. Main body (1 page):

Scope: description of the item, market opportunity, and intended user.
Material selection framework: function, objectives, and limitations and constraints for material selection. Objectives & constraints must be defined using material science vocabulary with terms explained and/or defined.
Performance requirements (resistant to corrosion, fatigue, wear, strength, etc.). Clearly demonstrates knowledge of course content; materials should be discussed using material science vocabulary with terms explained and/or defined.
Material properties and recommended manufacturing techniques: Two suitable choices of material and the associated manufacturing process with rationales for each. One of the two materials must be either a metal, polymer, or ceramic. The second option could be from any class of materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, natural materials, or composites.
Marketability and costs: this may include cost of raw material, processing technique, etc. Your choice of material should be aligned with the scope identified in the report. References (no page limits): The references section has the list of references cited in the report. Be sure to include in-text citations. Must include at least 5 major references and more than 50% of your references must be from peer-reviewed sources or textbooks.
