This source postulates that several major concerns caused the U.S. to wage a trade war, including (a) the concern that China’s increasingly trade deficit was undermining job creation in the U.S. (b) the increasing concern that China had used illicit or deceptive tactics to procure U.S. technologies at an unfairly lower price; and (c) suspicion that China was seeking to undermine U.S. foreign relations as well as its standing in the world. Its relevance to the discussion stems from the fact that the source analyses the role of the controversy over China’s currency value and trade deficit. the first assumption is that this was characterized by theoretical uncertainty over the definition of the characteristics of the global currency balance the source also evaluates the assumption is that using market dominance by China will only last until the other wealthy countries can mobilize and respond as a collective..

This article uses a multi-country global general equilibrium (GE) model to predict numerically the consequences of future China-US trade wars. The researchers incorporated an aggregate trade imbalance system of transaction costs into a framework that aims to analyze both tariff and non-tariff trade war impacts. The analysis showed that China will be severely damaged by the war with china between China and the United States, but adverse effects remain manageable. On the other hand, the US can benefit from China from unilateral sanctions, but this will fail when China takes retaliatory action.
- Abstract
This project focusses on the impact of the US-China Trade War on China, the U.S., Southeast Asia, and Europe — with special focus on winners and losers from the trade war. Recent trade trends show that not everything is all rosy in the global economy. There are various specific factors investigated through research to try and find out exactly what the economy is facing that has led to the current crisis. Some of the factors include the conflict between and amongst the world’s biggest economies. The recent one and the most influential of conflicts is the trade war between China and the U.S. This trade war has led to unforeseen repercussions not just in relation to the U.S. and China but to other countries around the world. Specifically, most of the impact has been directly felt in Europe and Southeast Asia. As such, it is essential that research is conducted to assess the U.S.-China trade war and its varied consequences around the world.
