Include at least one reference. Interoperability allows for seamless data communication interchange between different systems. EHR communication between different operating systems improves the quality and efficiency of the patients overall experience in healthcare. Interoperability is also important for healthcare providers to communicate mutual patients information and patient care. This eliminates unnecessary mistakes in patient care. When a physician is able to view a patient’s EHR and is able to see the medication the neurologists has just prescribed to the patients, the physician can now determine what medications have contraindications. This is an external use example of interoperability. Interoperability is a powerful tool when codes and properties are standardized within the data system . We have already established that the Wasatch Family Medical Clinic needs to begin implementing electronic health records in his clinic. In order to begin the transition from paper-based operations to technology based, first we need to determine which data elements Dr. Ute would like to become interoperable with his office. Billing and pharmaceuticals seems to be where his biggest areas are in the clinic. Dr. Ute is concerned that he may be forced to close his practice and leave their patients behind because of the expense of EHR. Combining his practice with EHR and using this important run-time quality, interoperability, could potentially save cost in the future, further allowing for larger opportunities. Electronic health records : DOD and VA interoperability efforts are ongoing; program office needs to implement recommended improvements : report to congressional committees / United States Government Accountability Office. (The original question to discussion was: Review this week’s reading on “System Quality Attributes” at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee658094.aspx Select one of the quality attributes listed and explain in your own words what it means. Then demonstrate why this attribute is important in an EHR system implementation.)
