potential energy.
Question
Help! I need help with these three problems, I got a and b for the first problem, but I can’t get c, and I can’t
figure out the second problem
An ideal gas undergoes a thermodynamic cycle consisting of the followingprocesses:Process 1-2: Isobaric expansion, P = 140 kPa, V1 = 0.028 m3, |1W2| = 10.5 kJProcess 2-3: Isothermal compression, consequently U2 = U3Process 3-1: Isochoric process, U1 – U3 = −26.4 kJThere are no significant changes in kinetic or potential energy.
a. Draw the cycle on the P-V diagram.
b. Calculate the heat transfer for process 1-2, in kJ.
c. Calculate the net work for the cycle, in kJ.
Initially, 1 kg of H2O at 420 K with a quality of 0.6 is contained in a pistoncylinder assembly. The piston is then slowly moved until the water is entirely changedinto liquid. Heat transfer maintains the process at 420 K.
a. Sketch the process on P-v and T- v plots. Indicate the initial and final states withbold dots. Label the states.
b. Determine the change in the volume of the cylinder (m3).
c. Determine the work interaction (J). Is the work “in” or “out” of the system?d. Determine the heat interaction (J). Is the heat “in” or “out” of the system?
