This project will cover political parties, the election process, interest groups, media, and public opinion. Here are the instructions: • You will select one Presidential Candidate from the following website • https://ballotpedia.org/List_of_registered_2020_presidential_candidates • Choose either a Republican or Democrat candidate from the 27 notable declared candidates and exploratory committee list . You will use this candidate for the entire project. • You will have 5 sections of information to research and an opinion section for extra credit • paragraphs are not always needed to convey the information, bullet points may be used if appropriate. • Cite all sources correctly, use correct spelling and grammar. • This project should have a cover page (name, section, candidate) and a Citation page. • You may use media sources such as YouTube, photos, charts, graphs, etc., but DO NOT copy complete news/magazine articles. If you use written articles, refer to them and list them in your citations. Answer the following for your Candidate: Section #1 History/Political Party • What is the candidate’s name? Are they married/single/family/pet? Any other interesting facts that may affect voters? Where are they from? • What is their Political Party Affiliation? Are they the Incumbent? • What are their qualifications? • Do they have a slogan? • What is their position on a current issue? • What if any past offices have they served in? Any military service? • Any information in their past/present that stands out as an issue to their electability? • Do they differ on any stances from their party? Section #2 Election Process • When did the candidate announce their intentions to run? What were the circumstances? • What were their reasons for deciding to run? • Where have candidates campaigned? Are they large electoral states? • What makes this candidate standout? Ex: campaign promises, etc. • What groups are the candidates speaking to? • How much money has the candidate raised? Is this amount considered good? • Any debates? Results? • Interviews? Live, Newspaper, Magazine, or Online
