April 1837 the first store was established, the location was a great site to expand and a major hub to other resources. Due to it, being near the Ohio River and the city was a major rail hub; it allowed the business to expand quickly. (Tracking the Entire World- NNDB, 2014). The first trademark for the company was designed in 1851; it was the brand moon-and stars.

During his reign, the company profits had doubled in sales. In addition, its portfolio grew to a billion dollar brands. It grew from 10 to 23 and had a focus on consumer-driven innovation; consistent reliability and sustainable growth. P&G capitalized on their marketing skills making them amongst the most valuable companies in the world. (Touching Lives, Improving Life’s, P&G, 2014).
P&G is one of the world biggest makers of household products. They are the leading worldwide producer of consumer household and pharmaceutical goods. They have at least 250 brands in six main categories: laundry and cleaning (detergents), paper goods (toilet paper), beauty care (cosmetics, shampoos), food and beverages (coffee, snacks), feminine care (sanitary towels) and health care (toothpaste, medicine). The company recently changes their business spectrum to go global. They created four major areas to group their products. The restructure of the Global Business Units was a plan to help improve their business performance. The plan is base on the innovation of beauty and grooming. Each new area is focus on common consumer benefits, share common technologies, and face common competitors. Each area has brands within.
