Strategy Project: Woodlands Group – Case Study Assigment

Study the Woodlands case. Perform a strategy project using the method described in Figure
1 taken from Lecture 3B). You MUST use this method in your project. Present your project
and outputs in a report to the client (around 2,000 words). Your client is Harry Symons.
Figure 1: Assignment Method
The primary source of information for the delivery of your project is the case description
document. However, you are permitted to undertake some additional research to support
your analysis. For example, you might look into environmental aspects of the project, but
this extra research should not be a major focus of your work. For example, you might look
into the impact of Smart Manufacturing. Your report will be evaluated as a client report. See
Canvas for additional hints and tips. Tutorials will also provide support for the assignment.
Suggested Report Structure
Title Page – Title, name and personal details (ID)
[NOTE: the title page of a report needs to give all the details required for
administrative purposes and also sets the tone for the report.]
Exec Summary – 1 page summary of the whole report
[NOTE: the executive summary is very important; spend time on it; the normal
mistake is to make the Exec Summary an introduction only; remember to summarise
the findings and main message too.]
Main Body:
- Introduction – give a little CONTEXT; explain the PURPOSE of your project; and
explain the CONTENT of the report;Woodlands Project - Methodology – explain your understanding of the task and your approach to the
project; a project diagram which shows the steps of your analysis would be useful; - Analysis (Steps 1 – 4) – present your analysis of the situation; explain the logic of
your analysis in a way the client can understand; use figures to show some of the
outputs (for example your rich picture and your Business Model Canvas); - Recommendations (Step 5) – discuss the results of your analysis and generate
recommendations for the business. - Final Remarks – summarise the main points of your project in relation to the
client’s needs – i.e. so what?
Appendices – if needed, place relevant supporting technical information in appendices. Use
1 page per appendix, if possible.
