As mentioned, “there are only two forces in the history of civilization that has the power to change anything… the other is education” (p.57). With this, the study emphasized the need to make the teaching method adapt to the changes brought by globalization during the 21st century. This being said, the study explored on how technological changes brought by globalization has shaped the society as a whole, and a by-product, how the people have changed their views and opinions on how things get done in the world. As one of the main source of information regarding the business world, Business Communication professionals are subjected to the dilemma of making changes in order to maximize the learning of the students. The changes in the 21st century are not already too minimal for educators to disregard. Moreover, Berry also mentioned that educators should “retrofit their own mindset and to enlarge their educational experiences… to prepare students for this “flat world”” (p.58). With this, the changes are not only on the method, but on how the educators perceived things. This is primarily because their learning process in the past is subjected to different circumstances, and with that, what they have learned in the past may not be that relevant anymore in the 21st century. With the advent of technology and social media, business communication related curriculum should also incorporate how GLOBALIZATION 3 these discoveries have shaped how businesses do their marketing strategies. It cannot be denied that these innovations are highly being maximized by different businesses all over the world for communication purposes, and educators should tackle these points in the most extensive manner as possible to ensure that the learning remain relevant to the real world.
