The theory of planned behavior affirms that individuals engage in a particular behavior if they expect to benefit from the activity and if the activity is approved by other people. Physical activities, specifically walking for leisure, have been linked to improved mental health and participants’ health awareness through the reduction of depression and stress. However, the effectiveness of the activities on the mental health of the participants depends on the intensity of the activities. Differences in demography also determine the intensities of walking for leisure. However, there are limited studies focusing on the impact of different intensities of walking for leisure participants’ mental health and their perception of their health, particularly for elderly adults. The purpose of the proposed study is to inspect the influence of walking for leisure on participants’ mental health as well as on their awareness of their health focusing on different intensity levels of walking for leisure. This study employed quantitative research designs using secondary data. The study extracted individuals aged 65 and above participating in walking for leisure chosen through purposive sampling method. Data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0 version for frequency analysis, descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, MANOVA, and correlation anaylsis in this study.
