Today’s college tuition rates have gone up much faster than the rate

of inflation. Some politicians and advocates for free college suggest that we should forgive all of the $1.5 trillion in student debt (which continues to rise) and make college free. The problem remains, however, that college is not free. Therefore, who should pay for it: students, parents, or other taxpayers? If a student is not putting in much effort into college, should taxpayers pay for this student? What do you think about paying for college?
