Description You have read or reviewed the presentation of a number of classics in public administration. Your texts have provided a substantial overview of public governance. The authors have introduced you to the conflict that may occur between elected officials who are policy makers and those in a bureaucracy that implement policy. But what of public policy made by unelected officials. If you follow the news you know that there exists at the federal level a degree of revolt by the bureaucracy in some agencies. Control of agencies by unelected officials who are protected by a form of civil service is often call the “tyranny of the bureaucracy”. Write an essay that defines “tyranny of the bureaucracy”, make the case if you think it exists. If yes, give examples, argue whether or not you think it is right, and provide any revised approach to governance that you think would be appropriate.
