Web Field Trip: Web Field Trip: Levels of Moral Development
Carol Gilligan, a professor at Harvard University and a former research assistant for Lawrence Kohlberg, has challenged Kohlberg’s research and findings on the levels of moral development because he failed to include women in his studies. Gilligan argues that Kohlberg’s levels of moral development may in fact be accurate for males in this society, but that they may not be accurate for females based on differences in the socialization process for boys and girls.
Perform your own research on Lawrence Kohlberg and Carol Gilligan. Be sure to visit at least two different websites for each and to record the URLs of each site you visit.
Compare Kohlberg’s and Gilligan’s Levels of Moral Development. Your comparison should include at least two concepts that are the same and two concepts that are different.
