Week 7 Discussion – Endangered Species Previous Next Hide Description
This week you are learning about ecology, biomes, climate change, population dymanics, etc. As you are aware, there are several plant and animal species on this planet that are considered threatened or endangered. Do a little research (county and state websites good places to start) and select an endangered species (plant or animal) found within your community (county or state since you are all stateside residents). Do not select the same organism as another student.
Please address the following about your endangered organism:
1. State the organism’s genus and species and common name if applicable
2. State the area in which this organism lives
3. Is this organism a producer or a consumer? Where does it or did it fit into the ecosystem?
4. Discuss why is it threatened (habitat loss, change in climate, etc.)
5. How have human’s impacted the survival of this species – both negatively and positively
6. What level of effort should we expend on saving endangered species? What can be done to help them survive (and in particular your chosen organism)?
Include all references you use for your post!
For additional information on your species you may be able to find it on the Tree of Life Website.
You may want to add a photo of your chosen organism.
Be sure to cite all references used in your post.
